After Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprised their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold in the HomeAway’s Vacation-themed Super Bowl ad, Variety announced there will be another movie installment in the National Lampoon ‘Vacation’ series. The still-untitled film will follow Clark and Ellen’s son Rusty, as he vacations with his own family. The sequel is expected to follow Rusty and his family as they travel across America to their destination of Wally World, similar to the plotline in the original ‘Vacation.’
Television screenwriter Jonathan Goldstein is reportedly working on the script with actor John Francis Daley. Neither has worked on a movie script before, as Goldstein is known for his writing work on ‘The New Adventures of Old Christine’ and ‘The Geena Davis Show,’ and Daley is best remembered for appearing as a geek on the cult series ‘Freaks and Geeks.’ The two are also reportedly working on several other in-development movies together, such as ‘Horrible Bosses.’
While David Dobkin has been named as a producer, there still is no confirmed director or actors attached to the project yet. However, Rusty was portrayed by Anthony Michael Hall in the original ‘Vacation,’ and Jason Lively, Johnny Galecki and Ethan Embry all played the character in the sequels.
