It’s going to be pretty awkward when you have to tell your friend you’re checking out a film called Premature Maturation. It’s a good thing Fox will likely change the title. According to THR, the studio picked up the pitch from writers Adam Cole-Kelly and Sam Pittman, which is based on the much beloved Tom Hanks 1988 film Big. It’ll be a comedy about a group of kids who suddenly become adults.

Producing duties fall to former NewsCorp president through Chernin Entertainment. John Fox is on duty for the studio, which aims to have the film appeal to kids and adults alike.

Minus the plot similarity, I have a hard time imagining this being comparable to Big. Perhaps if the studio hires the right director and actors the outlook will be more promising. At the moment we only have Cole-Kelly and Pittman’s histories to go off of and those are practically nonexistent. However, the duo did just sell their R-rated comedy The Misadventures of Fluffy to Paramount.
