Golden girl Betty White has confirmed that she will host an upcoming episode of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ New York’s Newsday reported on March 8. The 88-year-old actress told PEOPLE at Elton John’s annual Academy Award viewing party that she will appear on the sketch show.
Fans have been requesting that the former ‘Golden Girls’ and ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ star host an episode since her performance in last summer’s number-one box office hit ‘The Proposal’ as Ryan Reyonld’s grandmother. White also garnered attention after receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony in January and appearing in a Snicker’s commercial that debuted during the Super Bowl in February.
White also told PEOPLE that she doesn’t understand why fans have created a Facebook page, which has attracted half a million fans, requesting that she host the show. “I don’t know why or how, but it’s been wonderful,” White also said of the campaign.
