Platinum Dunes (“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, “Friday the 13th”, “A Nightmare on Elm Street” remakes), have have announced that their next project is a remake of the 1987 movie “The Monster Squad.”
Rob Cohen, who was a producer on the original film, revealed last year that he was working with Paramount Pictures to remake the property. A writer is being sought to tackle the project.
Fred Dekker directed the original 1987 flick, which was about a group of kids who love monster movies and team up with a Frankenstein monster to stop Dracula, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Gill-Man from finding a mysterious amulet and conquering the world. Dekker and Shane Black wrote the original.
