Star Jones underwent a pre-planned cardiac surgery in New York City on March 17, PEOPLE.com reported on March 20. The former ‘View’ co-host, who hasn’t been in the press very much since she departed the Emmy-winning daytime talk show, is on the road to recovery.
The surgery was scheduled as a follow-up procedure. Jones previously underwent another procedure for a thoracic tumor she developed nearly 30 years ago. Her representative told the magazine that the surgery was successful, and will have an extra reason to celebrate as she nears her 48th birthday March 24.
The lawyer took to the internet after her surgery, posting on Twitter that “It’s clear that God is trying to tell me something…and I plan to listen.” This isn’t the first time Jones spoke about a surgery she underwent. She had gastric bypass surgery in 2003, but at first, denied it on ‘The View.’ She even went so far as to have her co-hosts lie for her and say she lost the weight by diet and exercise. However, Jones did later admit to having undergone the surgery.
