Rumors swirled on March 19 that theater production company Music Theater International (MTI) was adapting the hit FOX musical series ‘Glee’ into a Broadway play, but the network is now slamming the company. Popeater.com reported on March 22 that FOX is denying MTI’s claims.

In response to the reports, FOX TV spokesman Chris Alexander released a statement, saying the network is very careful when it comes to deliberating with other companies about its franchises and series. “We..are mystified why (Music Theater Intl.) would claim there have been any such discussions about a live theatrical version of ‘Glee,'” the statement also said.

MTI has produced such famous stage adaptations as ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Rent’ for Broadway. So when Variety reported on the company’s claims, the reports seemed even truer. However, the article is no longer on its web site.

However, the hit show will be performing live concerts nationwide. The series’ cast members are part of the traveling live concert show ‘Glee Live! In Concert,’ which premieres in Phoenix on May 18. It will then move to Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, with shows planned for Radio City Music Hall on May 28 & 29.
