Like most of you, I have a love-hate relationship with Katherine Heigl. She delivers something fantastic like Knocked Up, but follows it up with The Ugly Truth. Can she redeem herself with Killers? Despite this far too simplistic poster (via IMP Awards), I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt.

The image doesn’t really go with the film’s trailer at all. Heigl’s character, Jen, is supposed to be overtaken by the surprise of finding out her husband is actually a super-spy. Perhaps the whole don’t-know-what-to-do-with-the-gun look works, but why is she so damn smiley? And, in the trailer, Ashton Kutcher’s character, Spencer, is suave and almost amused by the situation, not disgusted as this photo would suggest. The character posters are more appropriate.

It’s easy to liken Killers to another assassin/naive woman team film, Knight and Day. Whereas Knight and Day seems like an unfunny attempt at mixing Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible side with Cameron Diaz’s dumb blond routine, Killers could actually have a sense of authenticity. As for the battle of the trailers, Killers wins, but we’ll have to wait until June 4th for Killers‘ release and June 25th for Knight and Day‘s to see how they really stack up.
