Director Rob Marshall is hard at work trying to fill in the holes of his cast for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. With shooting expected to begin any day now, Production Weekly sent this message over the Twitter airwaves, “British actor Stephen Graham in talks to join the cast of Disney’s Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides playing the role of Scram.”
Clearly Scram doesn’t sound like the guy who’ll replace the dashing Will Turner, which is why Max Irons and Sam Clafin are also being thrown into the mix. As reported by E!Online, both are in the running to replace Orlando Bloom as the series’ handsome hero. Irons’ claims to fame are minor roles in Dorian Gray and Being Julia and the fact that he’s Jeremy Irons’ son. Clafin’s resume is even shorter having only worked on the made-for-TV film The Lost Future and the show The Pillars of the Earth, both of which have yet to air.
Considering their lack of experience, the ultimate decision doesn’t really matter. The funny thing is, not only are the boys vying for the same part in Pirates, but they’re also battling each other for a spot in Catherine Hardwicke’s The Girl With the Red Riding Hood. I say let them each have a role so everyone can be happy. Oh, if only the world worked that way.
