If you’re going to be a 50-year-old guy with an imaginary friend, at least have him look like Ryan Reynolds. In Paper Man, Jeff Daniels plays Richard Dunn, a struggling writer with a faux friend, Captain Excellent (Reynolds). His wife (Lisa Kudrow) is doing the best she can to help her husband grow up, but between his insecurities and floundering career, he’s helpless. Lucky for him, that’s when 17-year-old Abby (Emma Stone) comes into his life.

If you’re at all intrigued by this trailer, you’ll love the film. It provides a perfect representation of what you’re getting yourself into when you step into Richard’s world. It shows some of the film’s most memorable moments without spoiling a single one. And, best of all, it leaves Paper Man‘s most profound twist untouched. Check it out for yourself below, and, if you approve, seeing Paper Man when it hits theaters on April 23rd is a must.
