No more Photoshopping necessary; a picture of Chris Hemsworth as Thor has finally arrived. The image isn’t as revealing as I hoped, but it does provide a decent sense of what to expect from the costume department. Blond hair? Check. Checkered sleeves? Check. Chest plate circle things? Check. So far, so good.

After Batman Begins and Dark Knight, I’ve grown partial to superhero movies with a dark side. The more campy versions like Spider-Man were fun for a while, but apparently have expired. Between Hemsworth’s super serious facial expression and the darker duds, Thor appears to be heading in the right direction.

But the question still remains; is Hemsworth right for the job? Before Star Trek, Hemsworth didn’t have anything particularly noteworthy on his resume. And yes, the guy was great in Star Trek, but let’s face it, he was only in the film’s opening scene! Just recently Hemsworth got the opportunity to show what he can do in a leading role in Ca$h. The film only made it to 27 theaters, so, odds are, you haven’t seen it. Ca$h has its faults, but is still very entertaining and, most importantly, proves Hemsworth can make a decent leading man. In Ca$h he may only play an average guy forced to fight back, but at least it proves he’s got a hero in him.
