Ready for another vampire movie? Thanks to the recent overdose, probably not, but this one has something that might give your taste for bloodsuckers a jump-start, John Carpenter. The man responsible for films like The Thing, The Fog, Halloween and more has been MIA for roughly a decade having only delivered Ghost of Mars in 2001. Now, not only does he have The Ward on the way, but, according to Cinema Blend, an adaption of John Marks’ Fangland too.

Even better? Hilary Swank is set to star as Evangeline Harker. As a former producer for 60 Minutes himself, it’s no surprise that the book’s main character is an associate producer for a very similar show called The Hour. Harker is sent to Romania to do some research on a crime king for a segment, but when she discovers too much, suddenly disappears. Months later she turns up in a Transylvanian monastery sans memory. Things get increasingly complicated when she finally returns home with unanswered questions and strange occurrences consume her life.

John Carpenter and Hilary Swank, who can argue with that? I also hear Fangland is quite a good book. As a reworking of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, it’s sure to deviate from the current teen heartthrob saturated genre and bring us back to the good old days of the terrifying and monstrous vampire. This is certainly one to keep an eye on.
