Twihards jump for joy and the rest, well, you’re kind of screwed because it’s official; Breaking Dawn will be divided into two films. Summit Entertainment confirmed the release date for the first of the two films, November 18th, 2011, as well as the cast and director for both. Bill Condon will be the man behind the lens and Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke and the entire Cullen family back in front of it.
Melissa Rosenberg will also return to pen both scripts as will Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt to produce. That duo will be joined by none other than The Twilight Saga author herself, Stephanie Meyer. Production is set to begin this fall giving the team ample time to recover from the inevitable hysteria of Eclipse hitting theaters on June 30th.
Fine, it makes sense, but if Eclipse is as rotten as New Moon, I’m not going to be happy. However, I do have exceptionally high hopes that David Slade will deliver something to justify the series’ massive success. This is the guy responsible for 30 Days of Night; we’re bound to see the badass side of vampires again, right? Come on Slade, make The Twilight Saga lasting until 2012 a good thing!
