After films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Be Kind Rewind, you wouldn’t think Michel Gondry knew a thing about filming major explosions. Well, that’s certainly not the case and this brand new trailer for Green Hornet is packed with them. Yes, the trailer goes right for the superhero movie soft spot flashing fancy weapons, cool cars and a few beat downs, but at least the material is entertaining. Considering the massive amount of cynicism surrounding this project thanks to every problem in the book from cast dropouts to reported reshoots, this trailer is impressive. Now we’ve just got to hope the next one will get down to the details and make Green Hornet stand out from every other superhero adaptation, otherwise this newfound hope might be blown to bits.
You can check out the trailer for yourself over at Yahoo! Movies or tune in to Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight at 12:05pm ET/PT. Actually, regardless of whether or not you watch the video, check out Kimmel’s show because it should be an interesting one. The plan was to have Seth Rogen come on and unveil the trailer himself Monday night, but more Green Lantern bad luck struck and there was a power outage. No power means no show, right? Not for Kimmel. As reported by the New York Times, the host decided the show must go on and taped it using a laptop webcam and it’s set to air tonight.
