Ever since the little indie that could racked up over $193 million at the worldwide box office, we’ve been drowning in Paranormal Activity sequel talk. Even as plans actually started to solidify, Paranormal Activity 2 still felt like a concept that would never actually come to fruition. Well, now it feels as real as ever because the film’s teaser trailer has arrived.
Paranormal Activity was one of the films you either loved or hated and for those who were into it, you’re going to like this. It kicks off with footage from the original film, but then cuts to a new location, one with multiple cameras. We get a peak at the kitchen, the pool and a baby’s room. Is this going to be The Exorcist shaky cam style? Not so fast. The final shot of the teaser cuts back to the little one’s room to reveal a certain someone standing in the doorway, someone that looks an awful lot like our old demonized friend Katie (Katie Featherston).
Adding to the potential directions this one can go, after you watch the teaser on the film’s official site, you’re left with an image of the baby’s room. We’ve got two odd things going on here. First, the baby isn’t in the crib, but if you check out the crib’s reflection in the mirror the baby is present. Second, there’s some scribbling on the floor, but only in the reflection. When viewed upside down, you can see the message, “What is happening to Hunter?” Is the baby Hunter? Is Katie tormenting him? Looks like we’ll have to wait until October 22nd to find out.
