Danny Boyle has admitted that he definitely wants to direct ’28 Months Later,’ Slashfilm.com is reporting. During a question-and-answer period after a recent screening of his latest film ‘127 Hours’ in Washington, D.C., the Academy Award-winning director said he would return to the series to direct the third film if there is a big enough demand by the fans.
However, Boyle also said that he wouldn’t be able to direct the latest installment in the hit zombie series anytime soon, as his schedule is full. After ‘127 Stages’ is released, he will be working on a stage version of Frankenstein in London next year. He is also the artistic director for the opening ceremony of next year’s summer Olympics, which are also going to be held in London.
Even though Boyle will be busy with non-film projects until the middle of next year, he still has a multi-movie deal with Fox Searchlight, the studio that released ’28 Days Later’ and its sequel, ’28 Weeks Later.’ So the soonest he will even consider starting the third film will be after the Olympics end.
