Neill Blomkamp, who made his directorial debut with last year’s hit movie ‘District 9,’ is looking for a Hollywood studio to pick up his next effort, ‘Elysium,’ Slashfilm.com is reporting. The action-filled film will be produced by Media Rights Capital. While Blomkamp has a deal with Universal, he hasn’t found a studio to pick up the distribution rights for ‘Elysium’ yet.

‘Elysium’ is another entry in the sci-fi genre, and is set on a distant planet in the future. While the exact plot details haven’t been revealed, the movie is set to focus on socio-political themes, and will star Blomkamp’s long-time friend Sharlto Copley.

While Blomkamp hasn’t cast anyone else yet, he has said ‘Elysium’ is “totally original…It’s violent, very violent, and very unique hopefully.” He also said it will be “quite different from ‘District 9,’ but some of the blending of genres and the tone might be within the same realm.”
