Director Bryan Singer has announced that he’s planning on shooting his next movie, the 3D ‘Jack The Giant Killer,’ mainly using natural light, Cinemablend.com is reporting. While directors typically use bright light while filming 3D movies so the final result doesn’t appear dark, Singer instead plans on using the new EPIC Red camera.
Singer told the Red User forums that he plans on using mostly electrical lighting because “the movie is set in a time before electricity.” He added that “EPIC’s extraordinary exposure latitude will allow (him) to more effectively explore the use of natural light.”
However, the director didn’t confirm if he will be following in Stanley Kubrick’s footsteps when he shoot ‘Barry Lyndon’ and only used fire and sunlight. But if Singer does follow Kubrick’s lead, he’s hoping the new cameras and lenses that are now available will make it so audiences won’t notice the difference.
