In celebration of the New Year, here’s our picks for the top films of 2011 including The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Sucker Punch and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

1. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (November 18. 2011)

Starring: Robert Pattinson (Bel Ami), Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Runaways), Nikki Reed (K-11), Ashley Greene (Skateland), Taylor Lautner, (The Twilight Saga: New Moon, My Own Worst Enemy), Jackson Rathbone (S. Darko, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), Dakota Fanning and Kellan Lutz

Synopsis: The Quileute and the Volturi close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses different threats to the wolf pack and vampire coven.

2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II (Opens July 15, 2011)

Starring: Bonnie Wright, Warwick Davis and Alfie Enoch

Synopsis: The second half of the final Harry Potter adventure comes to the big screen in this feature adaptation of the popular novel by children’s fantasy author J.K. Rowling, with series veterans Steve Kloves and David Yates writing and directing, respectively. Part 2 follows up the first half, set for release six months previous.

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (Opens May 20, 2011)

Starring: Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz and Ian McShane

Synopsis: Jack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.

4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Opens July 7, 2011)

Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson

Synopsis: The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers’ final battle.

5. The Hangover Part II (Opens May 26, 2011)

Starring: Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms

Synopsis: A modest bachelor brunch devolves into a wild weekend in Bangkok when the gang travels to Thailand to see Stu get married. Still traumatized by memories of the Las Vegas fiasco, Stu (Ed Helms) vows to keep his pre-wedding partying to the bare minimum. But when Phil (Bradley Cooper), Doug (Justin Bartha), and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) show up, Stu’s low-key brunch makes their previous trip to Las Vegas look like a family trip to Disneyland. Featuring cameos by Bill Clinton and Paul Giamatti.

6. Sucker Punch (Opens March 25, 2011)

Starring: Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish

Synopsis: A young girl is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the facility.

7. Red Riding Hood (Opens March 11, 2011)

Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Lukas Haas and Gary Oldman

Synopsis: Set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family’s displeasure.

8. The Green Hornet (Opens January 14, 2011)

Starring: Seth Rogen, Jay Chou and Christoph Waltz

Synopsis: By night, debonair newspaper publisher Britt Reid fights crime as a masked superhero known as The Green Hornet. At his side is martial arts expert Kato.

9. Captain America: The First Avenger (Opens July 22, 2011)

Starring: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving and Samuel L. Jackson

Synopsis: After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America’s ideals.

10. Thor (Opens May 20, 2011)

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman

Synopsis: The powerful but arrogant warrior Thor is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.
