According to Entertainment Weekly, John Travolta is in serious discussion about playing mob boss John Gotti. The site reports that Marc Fiore, the CEO of Fiore Films, just might become the mob boss for an upcoming film about three generations of the Gotti crime family.
“We would love to have him,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “He’s a terrific actor.” According to Fiore, Travolta is just the actor that could portray Gotti. “John Gotti, Sr. — he’s an icon. And so is Travolta,” he said to the site. “The Gottis have an image already. People know who they are. You can’t just be a good actor, you have to be a great actor who can become John Gotti.”
Aside from the possible signing on of Travolta, a deal has also been finalized with Nick Cassavetes to direct the film. John Gotti, Jr. might be played by James Franco, although there is a list of several actors that are being spoken to about the part, said Fiore. Also, the entire Gotti family, including John Jr., have signed on to be consultants for the film.
As far as Fiore is concerned, he aims for this film to be another great mobster masterpiece, saying that he hopes it will be the next “Godfather”.
