Yesterday, I reported that several actresses were vying for the role of Lois Lane. Well, later that night, I came across news from Cinema Blend and Empire Online that there won’t be a Lois Lane in the Superman reboot! As to why there was so much talk about Lois Lane, I’m highly confused.
While Empire gave a suggestion via the Playlist that the female character could be Catherine Jane Grant, a gossip columnist at the Daily Planet, according to Cinema Blend, the reboot won’t immediately chronicle the days of Clark Kent at the Daily Planet. Instead, the film will be about his life before the Daily Planet and Lois. Some of shortlisted actresses for the lead female role include Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike.
What women are linked to Superman before he worked at the Daily Planet? Well, of course, there’s Lana Lang, but there’s also Lori Lemaris (apparently Superman has a thing for girls that have both their first and last names starting with L).
Perhaps there could be an original character instead of a character from the comics; remember that in the recent “Batman” films, Bruce Wayne’s love interest Rachel Dawes didn’t originally appear in any comics.
The “Superman” reboot, now called “Superman: Man of Steel” according to IMDB, is scheduled to be released December 2012.
Lara Lor Van (Lara El) –
Both versions of comics (supposedly) used as source material deal with Clark finding out more about who he is, and part of that process is understanding where he came from (Lara Lor Van, Jor-El, Krypton). I get so sick of idiots speculating that “lead” means romantic lead, and not a damn one researches the characters.
Lois WILL be in the film
