While speculation over who will be cast as Lois Lane in director Zack Snyder’s upcoming ‘Superman’ reboot still continues, Warner Bros. is looking at actresses for a tentative lead role that isn’t the superhero’s love interest, Reelzchannel.com is reporting. While Rachel McAdams, Olivia Wilde and Malin Akerman were previously being considered for the reporter, the studio is now looking at such actresses as Diane Kruger, Alice Eve and Rosamund Pike for the new, unidentified role.

It’s rumored that Eve is being considered for the new role because she has expressed interest in the comic book genre before. She was up for the role of Peggy Carter in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ before Hayley Atwell was cast. Eve also competed against Pike for the role of Emma Frost in the upcoming ‘X-Men’ prequel, ‘First Class.’ However, FOX passed on both actresses, and instead offered the role to January Jones.

While Lois Lane has always been associated to Superman’s love life, the secret role may be Lana Lang, his teenage girlfriend. Whoever is cast will be starring alongside Henry Cavill, who was recently chosen to portray the superhero. Production on the film is expected to begin this summer, and the release date is tentatively set for December 2012.
