While interviewing actor Jamie Bell on his upcoming film “The Eagle”, ScreenCrave was able to get more information on his other upcoming film, “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn”.
Bell, a self-professed “Tintinologist”, feels that it won’t be so hard for American movie-goers who might not be familiar with the character to get excited about the movie. “I think anyone who understands and appreciates Indiana Jones, understands Tintin and they don’t even know what it is yet. I feel like it’s not going to be difficult,” said Bell. He also said that since the characters are all falliable and Tintin’s ambitious personality is easily accessible, the American audience should be able to quickly get into the Tintin universe.
This film will be motion-captured the similar vein as the Robert Zemeckis motion capture films. Bell expressed his initial concern about the technology. “What is it? That was my first thing initially. What is it? How do you do it? What does it require? How does it work? Does it even work? Let me see some evidence of it working…All props to Robert Zemeckis for kind of spearheading the industry in saying that this is something we need to take note of,” he told the site.
“The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn” follows Tintin (Bell) as he discovers a map to a sunken ship belonging to Captain Haddock’s (Andy Serkis) ancestor and goes on a hunt for lost treasure. The film, also starring Daniel Craig as Red Rackham, written by “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock” writer Steven Moffat as well as Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, and directed by Steven Spielberg, will be out December 28, 2011. The film is an adaptation of the popular European comic book series by Hergé.
