According to Grazia, a rumored “Sex and the City” prequel is in the works. However, instead of following the same set of ladies during a period before the show began, the film will center around a young adult version of Carrie Bradshaw, possibly with “Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively in the role. Younger versions of the three women will not be in the film, so for people who have always wanted to see “Carrie Bradshaw: The Movie”, your wish just might be coming true.
The film will be based on a popular book by Candace Bushnell called “The Carrie Diaries” and will tell the story of Carrie’s first few months in New York City, which begins with her involvement with an older man. The prequel is supposed to be an attempt to inject some new life into the “Sex and the City” franchise, which has fizzled out somewhat due to the extremely lackluster performance–both critically and monetarily–of “Sex and the City 2”.
Because it’s being viewed as a rebirth of a franchise, don’t expect to see any of the familiar faces in any capacity in the prequel, if the prequel gets made, that is. According to an insider that spoke with CinemaBlend, asking Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon to be involved in the film is not in the works.
