Meryl Streep is in final negotiations to star in the comedy ‘Great Hope Springs,’ which is set to be helmed by ‘Marley & Me’ director David Frankel, Mandate Pictures has announced via a press release. The movie, which was written by Vanessa Taylor, follows a middle-aged couple who attends a counseling weekend after thirty years of marriage. The two want to examine the intimacy issues that are threatening their relationship.
‘Great Hope Spring’ will reunite Streep and Frankel, who first worked together on the 2006 hit comedy ‘The Devil Wears Prada.’ Mandate Pictures hopes to start production on the movie, which is being executive produced by Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, in August 2011. Film 360 was the first production company to acquire ‘Great Hope Spring,’ but then it teamed up with Escape Artists to bring the film to the attention of Mandate for financing. The movie will be the next project for Streep, whose next set to appear in the Margaret Thatcher biopic ‘The Iron Lady.
