For the longest of time, the sequel for the film “Sherlock Holmes” has just been called “Sherlock Holmes 2”. But, apparently not to be outdone by Sony’s release of the official title of the Spider-Man reboot, Warner Brothers has provided a subtitle to the Robert Downey Jr. / Jude Law buddy action flick.
According to FirstShowing.net, the film’s full title is “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”. Appropriate title, seeing as how this film has the exciting additions of Holmes’ arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris) and Sherlock’s slightly estranged brother Mycroft (Stephen Fry), both shadowy people in their own right. The subtitle also alludes to slightly more mysterious goings-on than what happened in the case in the first film involving Blackwood.
“Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” has already finished filming, according to the site, so it’s only a matter of time until we get to see a trailer from the film, which will, more than likely, have a cut of Holmes in drag as an old lady in order to gain some pertinent information.
“Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” a will follow Watson and Holmes on another madcap adventure in which they track down and (attempt to) vanquish Holmes’s foil, Moriarty. The film, which also stars Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace, will be in theaters December 16, 2011.
