Warner Brothers has announced their newest line of feature film apps. These “app-editions” of feature films like “Inception” and “The Dark Knight” will give iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users a whole new way to watch films, according to the press release.

The App Editions of films come with the first five minutes of the film and a bevy of extra features like soundboards, soundtracks, games, and trivia. The full movie can be unlocked via an in-app purchase; this purchase not only provides you with the downloading and unlimited streaming of the entire film, but also the entire collection of extra features available in the app. Fans can also communicate with each other through Twitter and Facebook and watch conversations related to the film happen in real time.

Right now, only “Inception” and “The Dark Knight” are available in app form, but Warner Brothers hopes to release their full line of App Edition films during this year. One of the special features in the  “Inception” app, priced at $11.99, will feature three unreleased tracks by composer Hans Zimmer that can be streamed via Airplay, and “The Dark Knight” app, priced at $9.99, features over three hours of special features. Both apps can be downloaded from the apps section in the iTunes store.
