Remember that interesting “Wonder Woman” pilot mentioned a few weeks ago? Well, we finally have a face to put to the David E. Kelley-verse “Wonder Woman” show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adrianne Palicki has been cast to play Diana Prince.
You might recognize Palicki from the hit show “Friday Night Lights”, on which she played Tyra Collette. She also starred in the 2010 horror/action film “Legion”. She will also be seen in the upcoming “Red Dawn”. Also interesting: she was in the extremely short-lived show “Lone Star”.
In the Kelley “Wonder Woman” show, Diana is a woman who is a vigilante superhero who has to balance her superhero work and “normal” work as the head of Themyscira Industries. If you haven’t read about the pilot script, I’m sure the words “Themyscira Industries” makes no sense to you. She’s not the princess of the Amazons in this show. Apparently, she’s just a regular rich lady who’s juggling a lot of different identities. One could say that there’s a Bruce Wayne/Batman thing going on here, except Wonder Woman never was like Bruce Wayne at all. She’s more like Superman/Clark Kent, if anything.
In any event, the series is expected to premiere on NBC, so we will be able to see together whether or not this new treatment of Diana/Wonder Woman is actually going to be representative of the DC Comics character.
