The Hollywood Reporter has released a question-and-answer session with this year’s Oscar hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco. According to the two hosts, there will not be any insult humor ala Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes.
“I can guarantee that if you’re looking for someone to call people out, we’re not your hosts,” Hathaway said in the interview. She also said that she wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that type of comedy because it’s difficult and she doesn’t feel she’s adept to it. She also said that since she is the youngest host in history, she feels she doesn’t have the right to talk about anyone. “I certainly haven’t earned the right to do that,” she said.
The two hosts also went on to talk about their favorite movies of the year, including “Toy Story 3”, “The Town” and, of course, “127 Hours”. They also explained more about how they were chosen to host this year’s Oscars.
It was revealed a few days ago that the Oscars will be digital this year, meaning that the set will be made up of projections instead of solid, traditional set dressing. This will allow the hosts to travel through different movies, time periods, and movie genres. You can read more about what Franco and Hathaway said about the Oscars and their hosting duties in the Thursday edition of “The Hollywood Reporter” Magazine in New York and Los Angeles. The Oscars will be on ABC at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.
