It seems that Viacom is bringing back a lot of old-school classics; first, there was news about vintage Nickelodeon shows coming back, now there’s news concerning vintage MTV show, “120 Minutes”.

According to Entertainment Weekly, MTV is bringing back the indie-alt music show, complete with original host Matt Pinfield. Original episodes of the series will air on MTV2, while a new webseries called “120 Seconds” will air on mtvhive.com.

120 Minutes” aired between 1986 and 2000 on MTV and between 2001 and 2003 on MTV2. The show was one of the main venues catering to alternative and indie music, featuring music from The Replacements, Slowdive, Weezer, Oasis, Blur, Radiohead, Kate Bush, The Ramones, They Might Be Giants, and more. Several hosts have presented the show aside from Pinfield, who was the host through the mid-to late-’90s; hosting duties have fallen to people such as J.J. Jackson, Kevin Seal, Downtown Julie Brown, David Holmes, and more. Jim Shearer was the last host before the show was cancelled on MTV2.

The show has also spawned several other alternative music shows on MTV such as “Subterranean” and “VH1 Classic 120 Minutes” as well as albums such as “Never Mind the Mainstream: The Best of MTV’s 120 Minutes” volumes 1 and 2.
