Matthew Fox has been cast to act opposite Tyler Perry in the remake of “I, Alex Cross,” according to CinemaBlend. Fox’s character is Michael Sullivan, the killer of the detective’s wife.
CinemaBlend is deducing that Fox might have signed onto giving multi-film appearances ala Hannibal Lecter (I’m assuming) due to the fact that, like Lecter, Sullivan is one of the most famous characters in the book series.
Other notable casting decisions to talk about: Ed Burns has been tapped to play Tommy Kane, Cross’ partner.
As previously reported at Shockya, Tyler Perry is expected to inhabit the role that was once played by Morgan Freeman in “Kiss the Girls” and “Along Came a Spider”. The role was, at one point, leaning towards going to Idris Elba, who, at least on paper, seems like he would be perfect for the role. Perry’s only acting credit–outside of his own movies, that is–is as Admiral Richard Barnett in the 2009 reboot of “Star Trek”.
Also a bit ironic, but slightly unrelated, is the bit of history Elba and Perry have with each other. Elba starred in Perry’s “Daddy’s Little Girls,” but recently blasted Perry and Martin Lawrence for their “Madea” and “Big Momma” characters, calling said characters “bufoonish”.
Directed by Rob Cohen, “I,Alex Cross” has not been given a release date.
