According to Entertainment Weekly, a spoiler concerning the upcoming reboot “The Amazing Spider-Man” has come to light. According to the website, C. Thomas Howell, who is appearing in the film, let loose a plot point on a podcast episode of “The RetroRadio“.

Howell says in the podcast, “I play a relatively small role. I play a construction worker whose son is caught in the middle of a battle between The Lizard and Spider-Man and we’re on the Manhattan Bridge. Spider-Man helps me get my son back in a perilous situation. At the end of the movie, there’s a bit of a payback there. Spider-Man is kind of hurting and I help him. Part of the story is the nation thinks he’s the bad guy at first. They don’t know who this guy is. Because of my experience on the bridge with my kid, I know he is a good guy. So, I pitch in and sort of help out at the end.”

So there you have it: the Lizard Spider-Man’s villain. However, for the astute, this might not be that much of a spoiler, as it’s listed on IMDB that Rhys Ifans will be playiing The Lizard/Dr. Curt Connors.

“The Amazing Spider-Man”, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, and Denis Leary, will be in theaters July 3, 2012.
