Walden Media is considering releasing a fourth ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ movie, based on the novel “The Magician’s Nephew<", Slashfilm.com is reporting. The news comes despite the fact that the last entry in the ‘Narnia’ series, last December’s ‘The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,’ only grossed $100 million in the U.S., against a budget of almost $155 million.
Walden also decided to skip over the fourth book in the series, “The Silver Chair”, to instead focus on “The Magician’s Nephew”. The latter book, the sixth in the series, tells the origin of many of the plot-lines in the “Narnia” saga, including where the wardrobe and Narnia came from. The events in “The Magician’s Nephew”, which is one of the more popular books in the series, actually take place before the events in “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”.
Michael Flaherty from Walden told The Christian Post that the studio is beginning to talk to Fox and those in charge of “Narnia” author C.S. Lewis’ estate. “If we can all agree to move forward, then what we would do is find someone to write the script. So, it could still be a couple of years,” Flaherty added.
