Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks will make his first appearance on prime-time network television in over 25 years when he guest stars on the hit NBC sitcom ’30 Rock,’ TVLine.com is reporting. Hanks made the announcement on March 25 when he tweeted the confirmed casting. Neither Hanks or NBC have released official details on what his role will be, or what his episode will be about.
Hanks’ last network television role was a 1983 multi-episode guest-starring arc on another hit NBC sitcom, ‘Family Ties,’ where he played Uncle Ned. But his major television role, which helped push him to fame, was the ABC sitcom ‘Bosom Buddies,’ which aired from 1980-82.
