Edward Burns’ new movie ‘Newlyweds’ has been chosen to close this year’s Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) on Saturday, April 30 at the BMCC-TPAC theater. The film, which was written and directed by Burns and will have its world premiere at the TFF, chronicles modern marriage. Shot almost entirely in the TriBeCa neighborhood of New York City, ‘Newlyweds’ shows that when you get married, you get your spouse’s entire life.

‘Newlyweds’ follows a newly married couple whose honeymoon is interrupted by the husband’s wild younger sister, as well as the wife’s sister, whose own marriage is falling apart. Burns stars in the movie with Caitlin Fitzgerald, Max Baker, Marsha Dietlein Bennett and Kerry Bishe.

Burns also produced ‘Newlyweds,’ which is the tenth movie he wrote and directed, and the sixth to premiere at the TFF. He has said the TFF has been a great place for him to show his movies, as “TriBeCa is my home in every sense-it’s where I live, and it’s also the place where I have been so proud to show my work.”
