FX has renewed its hit series ‘Justified’ for a third season, tvguide.com is reporting. ‘Justified,’ which is based on the popular character Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens from Elmore Leonard’s novels Pronto and Riding the Rap, was met with critical acclaim after it debuted in March 2010. The drama series, which stars Timothy Olyphant as Raylan, had the network’s second-highest series premiere ever.
FX President and General Manager John Landgraf has said that ‘Justified,’ which has averaged 3.9 million viewers during its second season, “was a critically acclaimed hit series in its first season, but…has far surpassed our expectations this season.” He added that the show’s creator, Graham Yost, and “his team of writers are delivering some of the richest stories anywhere on TV.”
Landgraf also said that Yost’s team is doing a brilliant job of staying true to Leonard’s original character, and the network “couldn’t be more proud of the work everyone has done.” He confirmed that the 13-episode third season will air next spring, and the current season will air its finale on May 4. ‘Justified’ currently airs Wednesday nights at 10/9 central.

Nice! Love this show so much, they’ve done one of the better adaptations from book to TV that I’m aware of…the pilot did a fantastic job of bringing Fire In The Hole to life, and they’ve done an amazing job keeping true to the source material. As a DISH customer/employer I usually watch this show on my iPhone on my lunch break using the TV Everywhere app, as it normally comes on Wednesday nights right when I’m getting the kids to bed. This way I can skip the commercials, too!
