Zach Galifianakis has dropped out of the upcoming film adaptation of the comic book R.I.P.D. just two months after he signed onto the movie, Reelzchannel.com is reporting. He left director Robert Schwentke’s planned follow-up to ‘RED’ because of scheduling conflicts. As of now, there is no word yet if another actor is being considered for his role as the partner of main actor Ryan Reynolds in the Rest in Peace Department (R.I.P.D.).
‘R.I.P.D.’ follows murder victim Nick Cruz, set to be played by Reynolds, who agrees to work for the police force of the afterlife, the Rest in Peace Department. Nick signs onto 100 years of service for the R.I.P.D. for the chance to catch his killer. The character Galifanakis was set to play has been a member of the R.I.P.D. since the 1800s.
Galifanakis’ departure isn’t considered to be a major setback for the movie, as the role is considered just to give Reynolds comic relief. But the news comes after Schwentke admitted that he’s not sure when he’ll film the movie. Also, Reynolds has said that even though he’s currently attached to the project, he’s not sure if he’ll follow up the current movie he’s filming, ‘Safe House,’ with ‘R.I.P.D.’ or ‘Deadpool.’
