Dave Franco is stealing some of the spotlight from his older brother James by being cast as a villain in the upcoming ’21 Jump Street’ movie adaptation, deadline.com is reporting. Franco is set to play Eric, the most popular kid at his high school, who’s also a drug dealer and the target of a police investigation. Jonah Hill will portray an undercover who tries to befriend Eric in order to become part of the in crowd and arrest him.
’21 Jump Street’ is also making news because its main stars are much older than high school age. In June, Franco, who has also appeared in ‘Superbad’ and ‘Greenberg,’ will turn 26, and Hill is 28. Channing Tatum, who will play another narc who tries to infiltrate the popular crowd, is turning 31 this month.
There have also been reports that Johnny Depp is interested in reprising his role of Officer Tom Hanson from the hit 1980s crime drama series in a cameo appearance in the movie. However, there’s no official word yet whether or not he has set up a deal with Sony, the studio releasing the movie.
