The upcoming Ouija movie is getting a new screenwriter, Disney scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos, slashfilm.com is reporting. The McG-directed film was originally going to be penned by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, but the two dropped out to focus on their television show ‘Once Upon a Time.’ Even though Spiliotopoulos has risen to fame writing such Disney movies as ‘The Lion King 1 1/2’ and ‘Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie,’ he later garnered attention for scripting ‘Wanted 2.’
Even though Platinum Dunes, the production company that is producing ‘Ouija,’ has confirmed they hired Spiliotopoulos, no word has been announced on what the film will be about. The only thing Platinum Dunes has said about the movie is that it will be “an adaptation of the Hasbro board game about conjuring up spirits of the dead.” The film is believed to be reminiscent of ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘The Mummy’ movies, and will feature a big action/adventure family story.
