In honor of the 40th anniversary of Stanley Kubrick’s Oscar nominated, fan favorite movie ‘A Clockwork Orange,’ Warner Home Video will re-release the film on a two-disc, special edition Blu-ray. Included in the special features section of the Blu-ray are the 25-minute documentary ‘Turning Like Clockwork,’ which discusses the movie’s violence and its cultural impact, and a short documentary featuring star Malcolm McDowell remembering his time working with Kubrick.
Also included on the Blu-ray release, which is being marketed for $34.99, are the feature-length documentaries ‘Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures’ and ‘O Lucky Malcolm!’ A 40-page book with rare pictures and production notes will also be included with the Blu-ray.
The Blu-ray will be released on May 31, 2011, but it may be pre-ordered now on the WB’s official on-line store now. The ‘Clockwork Orange’ 40th Anniversary Edition will also be available On Demand and for download from iTunes.
The Blu-ray release comes as a special screening of ‘A Clockwork Orange’ will be played at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, at which McDowell will be in attendance. The actor will also participate in a panel discussion on May 25 at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. He will then be honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in the early fall.
