Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott have been cast as District 3’s Tribute Boy and Girl in director Gary Ross’ film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ popular sci-fi novel “The Hunger Games”, ReelzChannel is reporting. The two newcomers are the latest actors to join the highly anticipated movie, which features Jennifer Lawrence as the main character and heroine, Katniss Everdeen.
While the tributes’ names aren’t even mentioned in the novel, they play a critical role in the plot. Nelson and Prescott join four other actors who have been cast as tributes; Jack Quaid and Leven Rambin, who play Marvel and Glimmer from District 1, and Dayo Okeniyi and Amanda Stenberg, who portray Thresh and Rue from District 12.
The post-Apocalyptic movie follows the country Panem, which lies in the remains of what was North America, and its 12 districts. Each district must choose one boy and one girl to fight in the Hunger Games, a live televised fight to the death. Sixteen-year-old Katniss takes the place of her sister Primrose (played by Willow Shield) to fight against other tributes in the games who have been training their whole lives. ‘The Hunger Games’ opens on March 23, 2012.
