A few months ago, AWOLNATION was able to win our musically opinionated hearts over with the release of the track, “Sail.” One song was all we needed to hear to know that this band was what we had been waiting for since techno and synthetic music began to dominate the radio waves as either the sole genre of a track or the backing beat of another.
AWOLANTION proved our initial judgment correct with the release of their debut album, “Megalithic Symphony”, which is available now and is currently streaming on their Facebook page. Just in case you forgot, Aaron Bruno is the frontman of AWOLNATION and to say he is just like any other singer out there is a complete understatement.
The 15 track album does not let one of the many genres expressed triumph over any of the others; it is the ideal balance. We can hear pop, techo, punk and alternative rock elements throughout the album’s entirety.
You might already be acquainted with the standout tunes, “Sail” and “Burn It Down,” but we will introduce you to another track that is waiting to whimsically tickle your musical taste buds. “All I Need” brings a soothing melody accompanied by untainted and relaxing vocals that have a certain flare to them. The tune resembles a song we would hear from the British artist, Mika. But Bruno is able to possess that unique spark without letting the quirkiness of the vocal and instrumental sounds overwhelm the track. Pressing play on “All I Need,” made us go even more awol for AWOLNATION.
Our AWOLNATION mania will grow even more fanatic as the band embarks on a Spring US tour until June 5th. Check out the band’s official website for more information.
Megalithic Symphony is exactly what the titles reads. The debut album is a compilation of various genres that fit together like pieces of a puzzle. You can hear the individual traits of them, but the album cohesively sounds impeccable.
