‘Bones’ has been renewed for a seventh season after last minute negotiations, TVGuide is reporting. While FOX and 20th Century Fox TV are expected to confirm the one-year renewal later this week, the crime drama’s star, David Boreanaz, confirmed the news early on Twitter. On May 2, he tweeted “Season 7 is GO for Bones.”
‘Bones’ executive producer Hart Hanson tweeted the news when the hit series was last in negotiations and renewed in 2009. However, he hasn’t commented on Boreanaz’s tweet about season seven, or how lead star Emily Deschanel’s real-life pregnancy will impact the show. It has been reported though that her title character will become romantically involved with Boreanaz’s character, Booth, after six seasons of attraction.
The one-year renewal and last-minute announcement weren’t a surprise, given the show’s age. But FOX and 20th Century Fox TV decided ‘Bones’ was still making enough of a profit to bring it back next year.
