Scott Baio is returning to prime-time television in Nick at Nite’s upcoming scripted sitcom ‘Daddy’s Home,’ Deadline is reporting. The multi-camera half-hour show will feature Baio as David Hobbs, a new stay-at-home dad. David spent the past 10 years being America’s favorite television dad on his own show, but now must give up his fame to take care of his own children. He agreed he would put his own career on hiatus so that his wife can return to the world of soap operas and reclaim her fame.
Nick at Nite decided to pick up ‘Daddy’s Home’ after its sister network, TV Land, achieved fame last summer when it launched its own original sitcom ‘Hot in Cleveland.’ Tina Albanese and Pat Labyorteaux are penning the pilot, and will serve as executive producers with Baio and Eric Bischoff. Jason Hervey, who served as the creator and executive producer on the ‘Charles in Charge’ star’s reality series ‘Scott Baio Is 45…And Single,’ will also serve as a producer on the new sitcom.
‘Daddy’s Home’ is Nick at Nite’s first original program since it acquired the animated series ‘Glenn Martin D.D.S.’ in 2008. The network’s last live-action scripted series was 1991’s short lived series ‘Hi Honey, I’m Home.’
