“Sail” was the first tune we heard from AWOLNATION and that was all we needed to listen to, to know AWOL will take the music scene by storm. The track off the group’s debut album, “Megalithic Symphony”, masters the sounds of pop-synthetic music. Lead singer, Aaron Bruno, has dominating vocals that positively reek of empowerment and build up strength as the synthetic tempo takes hold. You will probably feel content with listening to “Sail” numerous times a day, but Bruno has given you 15 other tracks off the album that deliver just as well, so avoid repetition and give them all chance. We promise you spreading the plays is well worth it.
Following the album’s March 15th drop, AWOLNATION has kept the music flowing with the release of their music video for “Sail.” Directed by Cameron Duddy, the video features Bruno avoiding being abducted from his home by extraterrestrials. Definitely an innovative take on the lyrics of the track, but the creatively mysterious video suits the tune perfectly. When we listen to “Sail” alone, we did not imagine a scene revolving around an alien abduction. After watching the video once, we have a hard time not associating an alien spaceship engulfing Bruno. We know this might sound silly, but the video has a haunting nature and features slow-motion shots that speak impeccably to the tempo of the track.
Aaron Bruno sealed our AWOLNATION fate with this video. Let him work his musical talent and unexplainable ways on you with Megalithic Symphony and on his Spring US tour, which concludes on June 5th.
