Screenwriter and author Ross Venokur has signed a deal to collaborate on three new animated comedy/family movies with Vanguard Films and Animation, the studio’s CEO, John Williams, has announced. The writer has already penned ‘The Nut Job,’ which he has described as “a tongue in check parody of heist films with…critters.”
The details of the other two scripts are being kept secret, but Venokur is currently working on them both and will deliver the final drafts to Vanguard soon. The studio is already making distribution deals for all three movies, though no directors have been confirmed for any of the films yet.
Venokur, who has written three children’s novels and has also written television scripts, said he had a great time working with Williams. ‘We’ve always clicked creatively…Most importantly, we both believe that our current three films are strong, commercial ideas,” he added.
The screenwriter previously collaborated with vanguard on the live-action film ‘Galaxy High School.’ He “was also a fantastic contributor to crucial drafts of ‘Space Chimps,’ and he wrote a hilarious CGI/live-action hybrid script for us called ‘The Gnome King,” Williams said.
