Vans Warped Tour never fails to deliver top alternative punk and rock artists. All you have to do is just sort through the endless talent and choose your favorites. Patience is key at Warped Tour, but the resulting saved CDs are entirely worth it.
Once again, this musical procedure of endurance has proven to be true for the three time Warped Tour participants, The Darlings. The LA Rockers have come a long way since their inception in 2005. After beating out hundreds of bands to win this year’s Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, The Darlings had their track, “What Lies Below,” picked up by the Anaheim Ducks, who used the tune for their 2009-2010 season promo spots on Prime Ticket. “What Lies Below” is off of their 2008 album, “The Darlings”, and has constant surges of energy throughout the tune.
The Darlings have also garnered success with their song, “Let’s Roll,” which has been in steady rotation on the LA modern rock station, KROQ’s Local Only show for months. The hit tune is off their album, “The New Escape”, and has an infectiously catchy chorus that will have you chanting “Let’s Roll” unconsciously with one play through. The Darlings are not playing mind tricks; they simply just know how to enthrall a listener without any non-musical diversions. This captivation is further justified with the album’s other tunes, “Hypnotize,” “Untitled” and “Broken Heart Still Beating.”
