The 22 yr old indigenous son of Houston Robert Ellis, was raised on Bluegrass and Country music. The young Texan has been praised by The New York Times as “Equally inspired by Jackson Browne and George Jones”. Robert Ellis laid back bluegrass sounds redefine country and holds the key to it’s future.
The young artist has created his second album ‘Photographs’ with band members Geoffrey Muller (Bass), Will Van Horn (Pedal guitar), Ryan Chavez (Drums) and Kelly Doyle (guitar). The debut album is due to be released July 5, 2011 on New West Records Label. Robert Ellis’s concept for his LP is split in two sides, to represent both styles of influential music. Ellis explains “The A side is more folksy, while the B side is full band country”.
The singer songwriter has a huge North American tour date coming up beginning May 20th. Noted as one of the best bands ever for a live performance, the Houston Chronicle states “… The band has a concrete reputation for an impeccable live performance”. While touring up the west cost Robert will take a week solo residency in Portland, Oregon. Following in July the band will continue with Robert on tour supporting the ‘Old 97’s’, with shows in Nashville, Brooklyn and Chicago.
