Japanese composer, World’s End Girlfriend, also known as Katsuhiko Maeda, certainly knows the ins and outs of how music should flow. From rock melodies to electronic ones to pop ones to classical ones, World’S End Girlfriend does not see the differences of the musical genres, but rather the similarities that could link them together in a single song.

The composer has debuted a new track, “Teenage Ziggy” off his forthcoming US debut and tenth studio album, ‘Seven Idiots’, which will be released on June 21 via Erased Tapes. Since this album is his first US debut, let’s fill you in on Mr. Maeda. The artist first came on to people’s radars in 2002, where he was invited to perform at Barcelona’s Sonar Festival. After releasing a collaborative album ‘Palmless Prayer/ Mass Murder Refrain’, with the Japanese band, Mono, he toured through Europe and North America.

‘Seven Idiots’ came out in Japan last year and its US debut is just around the corner. We got a taste of the album with the new tune “Teenage Ziggy.” The flawless track exudes the dexterous musical ways of World’s End Girlfriend. The tune begins with rock infused beats then the layers of other musical genres build up as the song’s energy progresses and finally the culmination of the musical surge releases a burst of vigor. A similar pattern follows throughout the track, but the rhythms involved are entirely different, keeping the listener afloat throughout the entire tune.

Welcome to the US Katsuhiko Maeda. ‘Seven idiots’ will not be the your last album released here.
