Iron & Wine was the top band of our college years. The soothing vocals and dreamy instrumentals of Samuel Beam relived our anxious collegiate nerves. We owe a lot to the singer and songwriter. As we embark on our next journey, free of academic restraint, we are happy to announce that we have a new band to clear away the unnecessary worries. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., we are not letting go anytime soon.
Detroit duo, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. released their EP, ‘Horse Power’, on July 13th, 2010 via Quite Scientific Records. The four track EP showcases the band’s quirky charm that is laced with beautifully fragile vocals and simplistic beats. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will release their full-length debut,’ It’s a Corporate World’, on June 7th via Quite Scientific Records. Fans can pre-order the forthcoming album on iTunes now. In support of their up and coming release, the duo has toured though the spring with Tapes ‘n Tapes, performed at SXSW and is now gearing up for their extensive tour, which includes dates with The Generationals and EMA. Stay tuned for more show updates. You can expect Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. to announce their first appearance at Lollapalooza this August and Austin City Limits festival in September.
Fans can get a closer look at the band by checking out the group’s sit down with Dan Harris from ABC, where they talk about ‘It’s a Corporate World’ in an ABC Amplified Piece.
Give Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. a listen. The duo would have been an ideal band for the O.C. soundtracks, even though the show is long retired. When we can imagine a band’s music appearing in a scene with Summer, Seth, Marissa or Ryan, we know the group’s a keeper. Welcome Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. to our own version of a 2011 O.C. soundtrack.
