Sure, it’s been about a week or two since the last episode of this season’s “American Idol” ended with Scotty McCreery winning the whole shebang, but the other big story to come out from the season, aside from the weird squabble between last year’s winner Lee Dewyze and “Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, is what top 3 finalist Haley Reinhart is doing post-Idol.
The Hollywood Reporter posted an interview with Reinhart yesterday, in which they talked about the finale, singing with Tony Bennett, and her singing plans.
When asked about whether she was notified of the possibility of taking Lauren Alaina’s spot due to her vocal issues on the final night of competition, Reinhart said, “It freaked me out a little bit, I’m not gonna lie. It was huge, and I almost fell to my feet. I was just really shocked. But I knew she would pull through. Lauren wouldn’t let that happen–she probably would have regretted it for the rest of her life, so I’m glad she was able to get up there. I didn’t want to take that from her.”
When asked if she has a single, she said, “Probably not now, but it was an option when I was let go. They had said that it was going to happen, and like everything else in the business, it’s all subject to change. I was excited about it, but then again, I think I’d like to wait and come up with something that’s very me. Everything happens for a reason, so it’s all good.”
